Jenn's  review on Wolverine

Many people have heard of X-Men. Now it's time to hear the story of how the Main Character came to be. Wolverine came out May 1st 2009, and like millions of people worldwide I stood in line waiting to get my ticket and a good seat on opening day.  The movie stars Hugh Jackman as the main character. Shockingly enough unlike most superhero prequels this one actually grasped and kept my attention throughout the whole entire movie.  It begins with Logan (aka Wolverine) as a child in Canada. What came as a shock to me was that Wolverine was born in the 19th century as James Howett. HOw did he get the name Logan wasnt really explained.  In the movie his brother sabertooth (played by Liev Schreiber) kills Wolverine's love interest and he trys to avenge her death. However sabertooth is working for the man that actually made wolverine the way we know him today. The only thing I was confused about during the movie was, in the 1st X-Men movie Sabertooth and Wolvering go about the entire as if they never knew each other...hmmm. All in All this movie gives me hope for the rest of the Summer.

Beef Stew for 6
May 18th, 2009 10:42 PM

Beef Stew

Prep: 15 minutes
Total: 2 hours 45 minutes

Ingredients

Serves 6

  • 3 pounds beef chuck, trimmed of visible fat and cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/3 cup tomato paste
  • 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Coarse salt and ground pepper
  • 1 pound medium onions (about 2), cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1 pound small white or red new potatoes (about 6), well scrubbed, halved if large
  • 1 pound carrots, cut into 1 1/2-inch lengths
  • 6 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 2 bay leaves

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a Dutch oven (5-quart) with a tight-fitting lid, combine beef, tomato paste, vinegar, and flour; season with salt and pepper.
  2. Add onions, potatoes, carrots, garlic, bay leaves, and 3 cups water. Bring to a boil. Cover, transfer to oven, and cook until meat is fork-tender, 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Remove bay leaves and, if desired, season with salt and pepper before serving.

Helpful Hint

Slow-Cooker Variation: Place beef in a 5-quart slow cooker. Distribute tomato paste, vinegar, and flour over beef; season generously with salt and pepper. Add onions, potatoes, carrots, garlic, and bay leaves. Cover slow cooker; cook on high until beef is fork-tender, about 5 hours (or cook on low heat 8 hours).

I'm Back
April 14th, 2008 10:48 PM

Dear Friends,

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to return to my blog.

On February 24, 2008, my mom passed away. She was not only my mom, She was my BIGGEST FAN.  Mom encouraged me to get my Real Estate License, and she carried my business card where ever she went.  Even while in the hospital, she would attempt to get referrals for me.

When it comes to Real Estate transactions, you can count on me to be true to what my mom taught me: to be a fair and honest person.

The best way I can honor my mom, Minnie, is to continue doing what I love,  Selling Real Estate.

All the Best,

Donna
